[ Emerald didn't get close to a lot of people. Not because she didn't talk to others, but there was a lot to be said about trust issues when even some people on your side called you a street rat. Trust wasn't something that came easily, nor was it something she expected people to have of her. She was, after all, a very skilled thief. There were very few people she trusted, and even fewer who trusted her.
This made having relationships difficult, but knowing people as she had come to, she wasn't too upset about that. But most humans have urges of some kind. Urges that needed to be taken care of, and very luckily there was someone she trusted not to get too invested in it. Her partner. Someone she cared about, but not enough that there would be any complications on her part, and she knew he was the least likely person to make things complicated. They both had urges to take care of, and as attractive as Mercury was, Emerald was fairly certain that she was one of his only options considering what tended to happen when he opened his mouth. Even she got annoyed with him from time to time and she liked him.
Emerald kicked closed and locked the door to their temporary dormitory-esque residence, looking over at Mercury. Cinder had just left and as much as she did respect and admire Cinder, living in a three-way situation was.. difficult. From behind her back, she pulled out what looked like a handful of cords and sauntered over to him. ]
Cinder's out for the next three hours and I promise not to take your wallet this time.
